Responsive-design Create Entries page, joining/leaving communities, subscribing/granting access, etc

This code push included responsive redesigns of:

* the beta create entries page
* joining/leaving communities
* subscribing or granting access to people
* many of the site admin areas
* everything in the /tools directory
* and many more.

If you have problems with any of these pages, this is the place to report the problems!

There are several purposes behind our responsive site redesign. Aside from the boring technical ones (making it easier for us to maintain and troubleshoot the code, reducing browser incompatability, giving us more options in terms of designing, etc), the two big ones are:

* Improve the way the site looks and feels on small screens (such as on tablets and mobile devices) without worsening the experience for people using large screens (desktops and laptops).

* Improve the accessibility of the site: make it easier to access the site with screenreaders, interact with the site using alternate input devices, interact with the site using only the mouse or only the keyboard, etc.

This entry is for two things: reporting any actual display bugs or glitches with the pages (in your browser, whether on your computer or on your mobile device), and providing aesthetic feedback about the look and feel of the design.

If you're reporting display bugs or glitches: Please describe the glitch in as much detail as possible. Screenshots would be really helpful, especially if you're only seeing the glitch in one browser but not another, or only on your phone but not on your laptop. (You don't have to check for the glitch on multiple devices, but if you do, let us know which devices have the problem and which don't.)

If you have feedback specifically about the aesthetics or the look of the redesign (you think something needs more padding, want to suggest a different font/color/color combination/background/what-have-you, think something is in the wrong place, that kind of thing): Please be as specific as possible about what you think needs to be changed, or what's bugging you about the way things look. For instance, instead of saying "the header is so ugly and squished now, change it back", say "On my computer, the links in the header don't have enough space between them, so they look like they're running into each other."

(We know that people definitely have strong opinions about the way things should look -- that's why we're doing this incrementally -- but the most helpful feedback is the kind that's specific, concrete, and actionable.)

With all feedback, include the following:

* Which site skin you're using (you can find this on the Display tab of Manage Settings if you don't know)
* What browser and browser version you're seeing the problem in
* What operating system you're using
* What type of device you're using: laptop, desktop, phone, tablet, e-reader, etc. (And if phone/tablet/e-reader, what make and model.)
* What your display resolution is, and what your current browser size is. To check this if you aren't sure: go to whatsmy.browsersize.com and report the following numbers: Browser window width, browser window height, screen width, screen height.

If you're specifically reporting an issue with how the redesign works (or doesn't!) in your assistive technology setup, please also include:

* What assistive technology you're using (name of program, description of setup, etc)
* If it's software, the software version
* If it's workflow related (you find it difficult to navigate using keyboard-only navigation, for instance), a brief description of your workflow and what about the page is making it difficult

Tropo red, Firefox (most recent version), Windows 7, laptop. I also tried it in Chrome and got the same issue, as well as on a family member's Windows 8 laptop in both FF and Chrome and have had the same issues.

The new update page is really frustrating to use. I know I'm seeing it displayed and operating as it's supposed to with no "problems", but it's really irritating. I understand that you've changed the font display percentage and that it's not displaying "too big" by accident, however compared to virtually the rest of the internet and the rest of this website, it is too big. It's completely unreasonable to be expected to change the browser font size back and forth just to use the update page.

Even IF the browser font size is changed, the whitespace issue is still crazy. The text box is now ridiculously small, and even if you change it so that it takes up the "entire" space without the icon browser etc sidebar to one side, it doesn't seem to actually get bigger? Trying to resize it manually only lets you make it longer, not wider, and it NEEDS to be wider. It's very cramped and makes going back and editing entries genuinely headache inducing. For those of us who manage communities (such as rpgs) with a lot of infopages and the like, this is a HUGE useability issue.

I think the way it looked originally was absolutely perfect. It's a real bummer to be struggling with this now.

The new icon browser on the post page is pretty weird. There's no more save button, and it took me a while to figure out you have to hit the oversized (misaligned?) "X" in the corner and this DOESN'T cancel your selection, like a big "X" would suggest, but actually saves it..?

The icon browser doesn't seem to "end", it just morphs into the bottom of the page no matter how far you scroll down. Also even if you're scrolled up to the top of the page, the icon browser appears midway through the page when you click on it, making you scroll weirdly to see anything.

After you select a custom filtered entry on the (small, kind of annoying) security/posting options thing underneath the text entry box, it no longer tells you which filter you've selected, and you can't actually tell what you picked until after you've posted it which is anxiety-making. The selection menu for this also suffers from the no save button but the giant "X" thing problem.

I'm frustrated at the gigantic amount of whitespace being used in the new design. I know you guys know it's a migraine trigger, it was something that came up A LOT when roleplayers moved here from another website I won't name when their redesign decided to abuse whitespace - I remember distinctly you guys talking up being accommodating and understanding of how bad of a trigger it is, but it's like this new design was done with absolutely no thought behind it in that regard. It's a bummer.

It's not an accusation, it's feedback. Thank you for reading it, I look forward to seeing how you guys continue to tweak the beta.
